All community members are welcome to attend the annual Prince George Remembrance Day ceremony hosted by Legion Branch 43.
Please be seated by 8:30 am at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre.
9:10 am: Ceremony begins at Prince George Conference and Civic Centre.
10:30 am: Ceremonial Parade assembles along Canada Games Way.
10:45 am: Parade to assemble at the Cenotaph at Veteran’s Plaza (outside City Hall). Please be mindful when gathering at the Cenotaph, to stay within the marked areas and leave room for honoured guests, the honour guard, and parade participants.
11:00 am: Last Post, 2 Minutes of Silence, Lament, and Rouse
***After the ceremony the community is invited to the Royal Canadian Legion (1116 6th Avenue) for refreshments.

We know this time of year can be a bit dreary and lonely, so all of us at SGFR would love to extend an invitation to all community members to come share a coffee with us!
Our community is really important to us, and so we'd love to offer an opportunity to get to know each other better and answer any questions you might have about who we are and what we do and how we serve the community.
What: An invitation to come chat with SGFR members, tour the fire hall and ask any questions you may have.

Why?: to socialize, have a bit of fun, and get to know eachother/share some info about the firehall
Who: all community members are welcome (family friendly!) There will be complimentary cookies and coffee for anyone who attends.

SGFR and the Shell-Glen Improvement Society are hosting a family friendly Easter egg hunt at our community park. Please join us for an afternoon of egg hunting, snacks, and fun!
The event is free, and all community members are welcome - we are looking forward to seeing you and your family there!

Wildfire season brings with it many questions, concerns and uncertainties. Although there are a lot of factors that cannot be predicted, community preparedness can go a long way.
We at SGFR would like to work with all community members to improve our communities level of preparedness and clarify any questions you may have about what to do in a wildfire emergency, and where to find relevant information/updates.
If/when a serious wildfire occurs in our community, we want to be as prepared as possible to meet the needs of our community in a unified way.
What: An invitation to come chat with BC wildfire staff and SGFR members about wildfire preparedness and safety information. Questions are encouraged!
When: May 23rd from 1 to 4pm
Where: 3985 Shelley Rd (SGFR Firehall)
Why?: to gain information about available plans, resources and actions we can take to better prepare for potential wildfire risks in our community
Who: all community members are welcome (family friendly!) There will be complimentary snacks and coffee for anyone who attends.

All community members are welcome to nominate a family in need of a little extra joy/support this holiday season! SGFR members will be putting together Christmas dinner hampers for local families this holiday season. Up to 5 families will be selected to receive everything they need for a full Christmas dinner. Please send your nominations to shellglenhamper@gmail.com (all nominations will remain confidential). Deadline for nominations is Dec 5th. Families must reside in the Shell-Glen area.

All community members are welcome to attend the annual Spirit of the North Santa Claus Parade! The parade is presented by Kopar / Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation as part of its Festival of Trees, and features festive floats, marching groups, and music, culminating in a visit from Santa Claus.
The parade will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, between 12:00 PM to 1:30 pm. Members of SGFR will be handing out candy from our firetruck decorated in holiday magic, and we are looking forward to seeing you there!

All community members are welcome to attend our annual SGFR Open House on Sunday September 7th 2025 between 11 AM and 3 PM. There will be door prizes, family friendly games and activities, demonstrations and information about fire safety. Free food and drinks are provided, and a free firefighter gift bag for each child who attends. There will also be and an opportunity to win prizes by participating in live demos and events!
It's a great opportunity to meet your local firefighters and first responders, and learn what it's like to be an SGFR member! Looking forward to seeing you there =)

Free hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and pop
Complimentary refreshments will be provided by Tano Fuel (thank you Tano!), and seating is available within the fire hall.
All community members are welcome to attend our outdoor Halloween Party on Friday October 31st. It's a family friendly event and there will be free candy and a fire-pit to roast marshmallows and make s'mores. We will also be playing an outdoor movie: "Playing with Fire" (rated PG) starting at 7pm.
*If the weather doesn't cooperate the party will be moved inside.
